We’ve said it before, as an artist you need to be spontaneous, this is why every artist needs to learn how to freestyle. Getting good at freestyling is not necessary but it is a big plus. Some of the best moments in the history of the music industry have been freestyles, and so could yours. Freestyling is by no means an easy thing to do but think of it as a chill thing and have fun with the process.
Here’s a list of arguably the 5 Best Freestyles [*some may be written]:
Table of Contents
ToggleNotorious B.I.G. on the Wake Up Show
In this iconic freestyle from 1995, the late great Notorious B.I.G. shows off and proves why he’s considered one of the greatest rappers of all time. The goofy ass laugh makes us remember him for what he really was, a fun guy and an amazing storyteller.
Eminem on Shade 45
Eminem is known for his razor-sharp wordplay and complex rhymes, and this freestyle from 2017 is a perfect example. There’s no doubt as to why he’s considered one of the greatest rappers of all time. Plus, who else was speaking in tounges and different languages back then?
Black Thought on Funk Flex
The Roots frontman Black Thought has long been hailed as one of the most skilled MCs in the game, and this freestyle from 2017 is a testament to his talents. With no beat to guide him, Black Thought delivers. For some reason, people don’t give him his credit.
Conway The Machine & Benny The Butcher on Funk Flex
Flex did not react the way he should have. Conway and Benny are raw. Frankly, I could try to be poetic and descriptive here but I’ll be as straightforward as them. This is underrated.
Big L & Jay Z Freestyle
The late Big L was among the most underrated rappers of the 90s, but his freestyle abilities were never in doubt. And Jay Z already went down in history as one of the best. This was back in the 1990s and is still one of the best. Again, no poetics here. The lyrics speak for themselves.
