Making Money With Music & Finding A Passion – Lite Interview

1. LITE – HAVE A PURPOSE

Many musicians find themselves in Lite’s situation. He’s young with a kid and trying to make it rapping. The difference between Lite and the rest is his mindset and how he navigates the industry. He understands it’s about the grind. Doing shows when and where you can as often as possible then shifting your attention on a dime to his family. These go hand-in-hand. His family is his purpose, the reason he does music, surrounding himself with his purpose, and his work gives him laser focus. Surround yourself with your purpose and your work.

2. LUCA MAX – PUT YOURSELF IN A COMMUNITY

Although this is in no particular order this may be the most important lesson for many of us. We often start this journey into the music industry alone, producing and recording in our rooms or personal set-ups. Getting started alone is fine but we can only go so far alone. As an instrumentalist, Luca Max was looking for a band. Rappers, producers, engineers, etc, all need a team. Putting yourself amongst like-minded people can help you find that team. It can also push you creatively – opening you up to new sounds and techniques you can take and make your own.

3. MAYOWA – FOCUS ON EXPRESSION

Writer’s block is a bitch but Mayowa’s hack for this is effortless – focus on expression. In our interview, you’ll hear that his strategy for writing was to use it as a place to put his negative emotions prior to this hack. This often led him to writer’s block but this hack allowed him to focus on expressing what he’s feeling or doing in the moment. It’s not an easy thing to master but the more you practice the better you will be able to express the moment.
